SPACES
It is a space which both functionally and aesthetically stands out in brisbane - as it fills the gap of this typology of architecture & space which is missing in Brisbane.
It is more exciting and interactive than Roma Street Parklands - yet more intimate & less commercial than Southbank Parklands.
This HSW development fills that gap.
Various public and event functions will be housed here - this everchanging space will promote and encourage nightlife as well as daily function throuout the day - can be for all ages, all types of people, all types of functions. As well as public and entertainment spaces - both indoors and out - this space allows for - green space, small commercial opportunities (Boutiques, Cafes, Galleries?), residential elements, new ferry terminal and extensive land and hard scaping.

FOLIE TO BUILDING

Folie;
Design Functions & Experience
The structure itself in bright and open to the elements – and although the interior is mostly green walls – the openness of the glass panels allow for natural light to seep in. The experiential qualities of the space include a completely unique green space in which you can view various angles of Howard Smith Wharves as well as a reflection space. The experiential facets of this design are well entwined with the function – experience is function. Experience views, experience space, experience being.
Building;
Design Functions & Experience
The Concept of this structure derives from the iconic nature of the theme. This building is iconic in aesthetics and function – however blends with the context and surroundings of the site. The site already houses an icon -The Story Bridge- therefore this design will aim to unify and balance rather than overtake. This design will transform the site into a public node/ meeting place. It is an ever changing event space design for people to constantly occupy – a Multi-functional building will create a destination which promotes both nightlife as well as daily function – in a unique way.
Other than conceptually elements have aesthetically been incorporated into the structure of the building. The Materiality juxtaposition – natural greenery against hard glass and metal structure reiterates the concept of natural vs. Manmade. The structure remains open to the elements and allows for natural light all day. This structure and design tectonic creates a completely unique experience for users and therefore promotes the site and space as a public node.
